How do I book a performer?
The first thing to do is shoose your location within California. Either the Bay Area or Los Angeles Area. Check out what performers and characters we offered in your area and then book them using our easy-stress free instant booking system!
What is Gold tier and Silver tier?
Our Gold tier consists of performers who have been character entertainers for 5-10 years and our Silver Tier consists of performers who are more new to the industry. -All of our performers have many years of theatrical experience, background checks, thorough training in face painting, balloons and other skills they offer. And all performers have a background working with children.
I don't see the character I'm looking for, do you have it?
It's possible! We are always updating our database and adding more characters, if you don’t see it offered on our site please give us a call or send us an email at email@example.com and we will respond ASAP.
Do I need to pay a booking fee beforehand, and is it refundable?
Yes you must pay a booking fee, because Katrina's Party Characters holds your date, time and character once you have made the booking fee payment. That means we can not book any other parties during your scheduled time. In the event of cancellation by client the booking fee is non-refundable. If you cancel with at least a week's notice then we will keep the booking fee as a credit and you can use your booking fee to book a party in the future ,gift to someone else, or reschedule. All parties cancelled within 7 days of the event don't receive a reschedule option at all. A Party may sometimes be rescheduled due to an emergency with 24 hour notice depending on specific circumstances. Rescheduling is allowed 1 time depending on performer availability.
WHAT IF I BOOK INCORRECTLY/MAKE A MISTAKE AND NEED TO CANCEL?
If you didn't read the performer's profile, booked the incorrect gendered performer, booked a performer not in your area (and don't want to pay proper travel fees), or you request an activity or character they do not offer or a similar circumstance where the booking was done incorrectly on the client's end, then never fear! We will work with you to save the day!
-When we catch this we will usually call/email you within 24 hours of the booking to alert you of the mistake and work with you to find a suitable alternative performer and fix the problem. If there is no suitable performer to provide your activites/characters to you the day of the event during the time you prefer then we will (at your request) cancel the booking and refund your deposit minus a $20 reversal fee for the incorrect booking. We thank you in advance for your understanding!
Do you offer Discounts?
Yes, we do!
We offer $20 off for events that are Monday-Thursday anytime and Friday Day as well. Just email us before booking and use the code "weekdaydiscount"
-This can not be combined with any other special discounts through websites or coupons as well .This is only off a quote for the full price for your performer.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking your performer 8-12 weeks in advance although we can sometimes accommodate last minute parties. If you would like to schedule a performer less than 36 hours before the event. there is an added fee of $25 and you must call directly to book as the scheduling system will not allow last minute bookings.
CAN I tip my performer?
How generous of you to ask! Thank you, of course! -just like any service industry is is not required, but it is in fact highly recommended that you show your appreciation for the performer by tipping in cash at the end of your event.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We also accept Square Pay, cash and checks, and most major credit and debit cards.
What happens at the party and what is important for me to know?
The character will park discreetly down the street and make a grand entrance to surprise the birthday child. Then they will do a meet & greet with the child & their guests and then begin the activities in the party package you purchased starting with larger all inclusive group activities such as singing and magic shows (to warm the kids up) and then smaller one on one activities such as balloons or face painting. If you have requested face painting please provide a table and two chairs. If you have requested a sing-a-long or dance party please provide a speaker system for your performer to connect their music to. Please allow the performer to do their normal party routine without attempting to change the order of things. We are professionals and this will guarantee your party to be a success. We always recommend that you bring out the birthday cake not long before your performer exits the party so that they may lead the happy birthday song at the end before they make their exit. You are encouraged to take as many photographs as you like throughout the party and your performer will have time for posed photography towards the end as well. Please do not be concerned if you do not see them parked outside your party location before your party begins, as they are parked discreetly down the street so as not to ruin the surprise. We confirm all parties at the time of booking and then again will call 2-3 days before the event to reconfirm all details. if you do not receive your confirmation call please do not call us directly but please do email our offices at email@example.com . You're party is not officially scheduled until we confirm availability and we have received the deposit payment. We will email you an invoice with a link to secure checkout via paypal if you have not booked directly on the site.. You can pay the deposit or full amount via paypal without needing to be a paypal member. You may pay the rest via cash the day of the event.
Do I need to provide anything?
If you have requested face painting please provide a table and two chairs. If you have requested a sing-a-long or dance party please provide a speaker system for your performer to connect their music device/ipod/phone to.
WHAT HAPPENS IF A GUEST BECOMES ILL, UPSET, OR MISBEHAVES?
We are entertainers, NOT childcare. Princess Pros is only responsible to entertain your party guests with princess themed activities. Please do not leave your children unattended with the character as our princesses will not discipline them. A parent or host must take care of any behavior or health issue that a guest may have. We encourage the children to behave, but the hosts are responsible for monitoring and taking charge of children who are not behaving or who do not want to participate in the princess party activities.
CAN I INVITE BOYS/GIRLS TO THE PARTY?
Absolutely! We do not discriminate at Katrina's Party Characters. Our princess parties are for all children, regardless of age, gender, race, or disability. We will do our best to accommodate to your special requests and make sure each child feels included and has a special experience. Feel free to invite whomever you choose to the party, and we will gladly include them in our activities!
HOW MANY GUESTS CAN I INVITE?
For each different character package we have a recommended amount of children and types of activities that we suggest you follow. We want to give each child a special experience. If you would like to invite more than the amount of children suggested and you want them all to participate in the activities, you must add on a second character. This is to make sure we will have enough time and supplies for each child to participate in all the activities (face painting, coronation, etc.).
WHAT IF A GUEST ARRIVES LATE?
All parties will begin at the time scheduled by the client as written in the contract and will end after party package time allotted. All events are based on a schedule and work best when all guests arrive on time. Late guests are welcome to join in upon arrival, but character cannot backtrack to include latecomers (ie., if face painting is already over and character has moved on to a new activity, the late guest will unfortunately not receive a face paint.)
My performer is ill or running late?
Please allow a 15 minute arrival window, it is rare but on occasion our performers will be a few minutes behind. This is nothing to worry about, as we have a guarantee that in the event this happens each performer will always stay the full time booked plus extra time based on how many minutes they were late FREE. If your performer is sick or cancels within 24 hours of the event we will give you a full refund or the option to reschedule for $50 off. If they are sick and we have to cancel within 7 days before that time we will give you a full refund and $20 off your next event with us. If we have to cancel and we give at least 7 days notice we will give you a full refund.
Which areas do you service?
Currently, the Bay Area (within 120 miles of Sunnyvale) and Sacramento as well. -Is your party in SoCal? Is it in a few months? We are currently working on expanding to Southern California as well so keep a look at out, don't be afraid to submit a quote, and don't forget to subscribe to our email list for more updates! :D
Do you currently offer bounce houses, decorating supplies, or cakes?
No, our goal is to provide quality entertainers and artists to make your event as unique and memorable as possible. We only book performers. We don't rent or sell goods.
Do you have licensed characters available?
It is not the intention of Katrina's Party Characters to violate any copyright laws. All of our characters are NOT name brand copyrighted characters.
Our characters are generic and we can only accept bookings from individuals who are aware that we DO NOT represent any licensed character.
If you require a licensed, copyrighted character for your event, you should contact the company/copyright holders.
1. In the event of cancellation by client the booking fee is non-refundable.
To clarify, You may cancel up to 24hrs before the party but cancellation will result in forfeiting your booking fee.
Any amount you are supposed to pay at party/have paid in advance that is above the required booking fee for your specific package is fully refundable at any time of cancellation. This varies depending on your booking fee and includes all parties and packages
In the event of bad weather, serious illness, riots, Act of God, or other unforeseen emergencies, we reserve the right to cancel the event. In this instance, your booking fee would be returned to you. This is the ONLY exception to the non-refundable booking fee.
2. Our performers' safety is top priority. We reserve the right to leave any party at any time if our performers feel threatened or uncomfortable. In this instance, you would not be charged for the rest of the party, however, your booking fee will not be returned.
3. Mascot performers get a 5 minute mandatory break every 30 minutes where they can take the head off in a private room away from party guests and have some water and change out the ice packs in their costumes. This is to protect our performers and keep them safe. It is very easy to overheat in mascot costumes.
4. If you'd like to book a performer over the phone with your credit card instead of directly through the website there is a $20 phone booking fee on top of our normal price as our credit card service charges us more fees for this convenience.
6. When booking less than a week before your event we do not accept E-checks via paypal, or checks at all because this does not give us enough days for the check to clear. If you send us an E check payment we will call you to get credit card information instead. If the check clears after your event we will refund you the echeck payment minus the paypal fees taken out.
5. When booking through us you (as the client ) agrees to be responsible for full payment. If your check bounces, or your card declines, or paypal reverses your payment or some crazy act of god causes you to stiff us then within a month we will not hesitate to take you to small claims court or hand your account off to a collection agency. We have unfortunately had too many problems with this in the past so we have to be very strict on these matters.
